Light is not just light: healthy light is the central element of ergonomic workplace design
LED luminaires from K + B not only provide light - they also ensure well-being and safety in administration and production
There are a large number of prescriptions for the ergonomically equipped workplace. In addition to complying with statutory regulations, the ultimate aim is for employees to feel comfortable at their workplace and thus be able to develop their full potential.bright, homogeneous, glare-free and individually adjustable light is of central importance for the ergonomic design of your office and industrial workplaces.
The fluorescent tubes commonly used in the professional sector contain only very small, overemphasised sections of the colour spectrum in the areas of blue, green and yellow. This results in an unphysiological, incomplete colour spectrum, which impairs the hormone balance. At the same time, the 100-120 Hz flicker of ordinary fluorescent lamps, which is generated by the alternating voltage frequency of 50 Hz and 60 Hz, is a considerable stress factor. The level of the driving and stress hormone cortisol rises, while the body simultaneously produces the calming hormone melatonin, which normally stimulates the sun only with evening light. A hormonal alternating bath, which can have health consequences: such as fatigue, concentration and metabolic disorders.

The LED modules used by us offer a far more homogeneous colour spectrum and increase the subjective well-being at the workplace. Improved light perception and a significantly higher concentration after the conversion from fluorescent tubes to LED lighting was proven in a study by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in 2015.
Healthy light is a question of ingredients
The ingredients for the professional LED systems from K + B are both the outstanding quality of the LEDs used and decades of know-how in electronics and control technology.

Only high-quality LEDs in combination with a perfect luminaire design and lighting control ensure a homogeneous light spectrum, the guaranteed service life of the lamps and a flicker-free, glare-free and pleasant working light.
Various studies have also shown that the PWM dimming frequently used for cost reasons in LED luminaires for individual lighting control and the associated stroboscope-like flickering causes stress ** and impairs health. Although the flicker frequency is mostly outside the conscious perception, headaches, general discomfort, metabolic, coordination and sleep disorders can result. Supposed savings in the lighting of administration, sales, storage and production rooms quickly become an expensive pleasure in superficial price decisions: Employees who are tired and plagued with headaches damage productivity.

We therefore work exclusively with current dimming (amplitude dimming) and high-quality, technically mature ballasts: The luminous intensity of the LED is not achieved by pulsating current interruptions, but by linear changes in the current amplitude of the forward current. In this way, our LED lighting systems create homogeneous, flicker-free* working light over the entire service life of the lamps and ensure the well-being, efficiency and ultimately safety of their employees.

*Residual flicker due to the alternating current frequency at around 2 %
**In a study by the University of Darmstadt, the stroboscopic effect of PWM dimmed luminaires in the office environment and its negative effects on concentration and coordination have been proven (Forschungsvereinigung Automobiltechnik e.V..), FAT Schriftenreihe 270, S.18, Flimmereffekte von pulsweiten modulierter Innenraumbeleuchtung, Forschungsstelle: Technische Universität Darmstadt, Fachgebiet Lichttechnik)
